FAQ

My Approach

Q: What is your approach during the first visit with clients?

A: During the first visit, my focus is on getting to know you, understanding what makes you unique, and exploring the experiences and circumstances that led you to your present self. This information helps uncover the source of or factors contributing to imbalances in the body.

Q: Why is knowing a person's entire story important in understanding their health issues?

A: I believe that knowing a person's entire story is essential to understanding the root of their issues. When we take the time to understand someone’s life history, many seemingly separate pieces can start to come together. This comprehensive understanding is crucial for seeing the individual as a WHOLE and grasping patterns that may be a part of a bigger picture.

Q: How do you assist clients in navigating the abundance of health-related information available?

A: There's a lot of information out there, and it can be challenging to navigate, validate, and implement on your own. My extensive knowledge about and experience with natural therapies and their use alongside conventional therapies helps me ensure that the recommendations I make are safe and appropriate for the individual in front of me. I love educating clients about how their bodies work and encouraging them to tune into their bodies and minds so that they can better identify what does and does not work for them as a unique person.

I am also always happy to teach clients how to appropriately read supplement labels and otherwise deepen their understanding of the supplement industry so that they can make the best decisions for themselves, which is especially important now since we are constantly seeing advertisements for the next big “cure-all” on a nearly daily basis.

Q: How do you view your relationship with clients?

A: I view my continued relationship with each client as a partnership. Health journeys are often nonlinear, and lifestyle/behavioral modifications can be challenging. I am committed to walking alongside clients every step of the way, even when faced with obstacles. I meet each client where they are, and each step we take is as big or as small as they determine they can handle.

Q: What is the purpose of the free 20-minute discovery call?

A: The free 20-minute discovery call is a chance for us to chat and figure out if we're a great match for working together. During this call, we'll discuss your needs and whether my skillset aligns with them. It's also an opportunity for you to share your commitment level, ensuring that our collaboration is a perfect fit for your wellness journey.

Q: How can prospective clients schedule the free 20-minute discovery call?

A: The discovery call can be scheduled here.

Q: In how many states is licensure for Naturopathic practitioners currently offered?

A: Licensure for Naturopathic practitioners is currently offered by 23 states, the District of Columbia, the US Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.

Q: Are there any southern states that regulate Naturopathic Medicine?

A: As of now, there are no southern states that regulate Naturopathic Medicine.

Q: What does the lack of regulation in southern states mean for Naturopathic practitioners in those areas?

A: In unlicensed states like Georgia, there is significant variability in the credentials and experience of individuals who call themselves Naturopathic practitioners or Naturopaths.

Q: What kind of education and training do Naturopathic practitioners in unlicensed states typically have?

A: In unlicensed states, since the terms “Naturopath” or “Naturopathic Doctor” are not protected or clearly defined, many of the individuals using either of these titles have completed online programs, which only require a GED and offer no medical training.

Q: What is the educational background of licensable Naturopathic practitioners?

A: Licensable Naturopathic practitioners graduate from 4-year graduate-level schools accredited by the U.S. Department of Education. They undergo hands-on clinical training and pass a licensing exam called the NPLEX. All of the accredited schools in North America are shown on the map below.

Q: If Georgia were to start licensing Naturopathic practitioners, what would be the criteria for obtaining a license?

A: If Georgia (or any currently unlicensed state) were to start licensing Naturopathic practitioners, only those who graduated from an accredited program and passed the licensing exam (NPLEX) would be able to obtain a license and use the title Naturopathic Doctor.

Q: Why is it important to research appropriately when looking for Naturopathic care in unregulated states?

A: The lack of regulation leads to a discrepancy in education and training among Naturopathic practitioners in unlicensed states. Therefore, it is crucial to conduct thorough research when looking for a practitioner to ensure the quality of care and to be clear on the degree of experience of the provider with whom you choose to work.
